Deze kop heeft een elliptische vorm en de meest populaire verhouding is 2:1 (wat betekent dat de breedte van de ellips twee keer zo diep is).een elliptisch hoofd is minder efficiënt dan een hemisferisch hoofd, dus ASME-specificaties vereisen een verhoogde dikte.
