De hemisferische kop is gemaakt in de vorm van een halve bol en is technisch gezien de ideale vorm voor een scheepskop.De straal van het halfrond is constant in tegenstelling tot een elliptische kopDe straal is gelijk aan de straal van de schelp waaraan het is bevestigd.
Productiemethoden
Met deze methode worden schijven of segmenten geperst in hun definitieve grootte en vorm met behulp van een of meer persritten.Een eenvoudige regel luidt echter dat koudvorming voornamelijk wordt gebruikt wanneer de diameter van de kop klein is en de dikte beperkt is en warmpers wordt gebruikt om koppen te maken die zijn gemaakt van zeer dikke platen.
